Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland will visit Georgia on an official visit on 30 January 2017, to meet high-level officials and discuss the co-operation of the country with the Council of Europe.

The Secretary General will meet the President of Georgia, Giorgi Margvelashvili; Prime-Minister, Giorgi Kvirikashvili; Foreign Minister, Mikheil Janelidze;  and Chair of the Parliament of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze.

Co-operation between Georgia and the Council of Europe, including in the implementation of the Action Plan for Georgia 2016-2019, and a number of political issues will be discussed during the meetings.

Following the meeting with Minister Janelidze, a joint press conference will be held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, tentatively at 10h50.
