Peer learning: Ombudsman of BiH visiting Ombudsman of Kosovo

One-week placement for two lawyers from the Human Rights Ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been organised with the office of Ombudsman of Kosovo* from 19 to 23 November 2018.

The purpose of the placement was to get acquainted with best practices in combating discrimination, institutional efficiency, relationship with public stakeholders and civil sector. Two lawyers also had an opportunity to exchange experiences on their advocacy policies and Institutions’ activities in protection and remedying of citizen’s human rights, thus strengthening regional co-operation.

The placement was organised within the action “Strengthening the Human Rights Ombudsman to fight discrimination” which is being implemented in Bosnia and Herzegovina as a part of the programme “Horizontal Facility for Western Balkans and Turkey” funded by the European Union and co-funded and implemented by the Council of Europe.

* This designation is without prejudice to positions on status, and is in line with UNSCR 1244 and the ICJ Opinion on the Kosovo Declaration of Independence.
