Ninth co-ordination meeting between the Ombudsman institution and public institutions from five municipalities

Improving co-operation and establishment of a direct contact between the Ombudsman institution and the public institutions from Kupres, Drvar, Livno, Bosansko Grahovo and Glamoc, was in focus of the ninth co-ordination meeting held on 11 December in Livno.

The purpose of this meeting was to establish a direct contact between the Ombudsman institution and relevant public institution, i.e. the assigned lawyer to a particular case and the representative of the competent department of the relevant institution directly discuss the submitted complaint to the Ombudsman and therefore ensure easier and immediate handling of a case. The necessity of further training for the general and expert public on human rights, prohibition of discrimination and the role and mandate of the Ombudsman institution as a central institution for the protection against discrimination is stipulated as a priority by the participants.

The coordination meeting was organised within the action: “Strengthening the Human Rights Ombudsman to fight discrimination”, which is being implemented in Bosnia and Herzegovina as a part of the programme: “Horizontal Facility for Western Balkans and Turkey” funded by the European Union and co-funded and implemented by the Council of Europe.

Dear visitor,

Thank you for visiting the website of the Council of Europe Office in Sarajevo. Here you will find information about the activities of our Office, as well as links to other information, news and documents relating to the Council of Europe’s work, such as conventions, reports, and recommendations of this Organisation and its various bodies. While most of our texts are in the official languages of our organisation, i.e. English and French, we are determined to provide as much information as possible in the languages of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Bosnia and Herzegovina has been a member state of the Council of Europe since 2002 and is actively involved in all the aspects of the mission and work of our Organisation. Our Office in Sarajevo contributes to this partnership, by providing support to Bosnia and Herzegovina, its authorities, institutions and people to give practical meaning to the principles of human rights, democracy and the rule of law which are common to all 46 member states of the Council of Europe. I hope that you will find the information here thought-provoking and useful, and would welcome your feedback and suggestions which will be used to further improve our website. You can also follow the activities of our Office on Facebook and Twitter.

Yours sincerely,
