Council of Europe continues its substantial support to prisons in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Head of the Council of Europe Office in Sarajevo, Bojana Urumova, met today with the Minister of Justice of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mato Jozić, to discuss current cooperation priorities in the field of prisons and agree on further steps.

Training of prison staff and introduction of Information Technologies were among the jointly agreed priorities, complemented by the ongoing infrastructure projects that the Ministry is undertaking in various locations in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. With its three-pronged approach of standard setting, monitoring and technical cooperation and assistance, the Council of Europe continues to stand with the Federal Ministry of Justice as a long-term partner in many strategic initiatives.

Future cooperation will be centred around two concurrent projects implemented in the field of execution of criminal sanctions, one with funding provided by the European Union and another one with funding from the United Kingdom and USAID.
