Cascade training on hate speech for the judiciary and police members of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina gathered 14 participants, from Konjic, Mostar, Tuzla, Gradačac, Visoko, Sarajevo and Banovići. Training was based on presenting the standards of the Council of Europe set in the European Convention of Human Rights and the relevant case law of the European Court for Human Rights, as well as on the presenting of the domestic legal framework for the hate speech regulation, and discussion on the relevant domestic case law.
The judges, prosecutors and police representatives, had the opportunity to discuss the cases selected by the trainers, to debate and understand the basic principles of freedom of expression, and at the same time to understand the rightful limitations of the freedom of expression, in particular when it comes to hate speech.
The trainers at the seminar were Council of Europe’s international expert Peter Noorlander, the lawyer from London and two local trainers Sanja Tadić Stojisavljević the public prosecutor of Republika Srpska and Amir Bajrić, the prosecutor from Zenica-Doboj Canton.
