With the support of the European Union and the Council of Europe, prison authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina have commissioned the introduction of information technologies in prisons, in light of previous Council of Europe recommendations.

The Working Group, comprising prison professionals and Council of Europe consultants, had an online co-ordination meeting on 26 November 2020, to discuss the current state of play as regards setting up information technologies in entity prisons in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Working Group also discussed the development of prison software, which include four modules, three related to the treatment, security and medical issues, and fourth module related to reporting, which is in the final phase of development at present.

This activity is organised as part of the action: "Strengthening human rights treatment of detained persons based on European standards and best practices in Bosnia and Herzegovina”, a part of the joint European Union/Council of Europe programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019-2022”, implemented by the Council of Europe. All activities are currently taking place online.
