The Council of Europe supports the United Nations sustainable development goals through most of its work. The development cooperation plays a particularly important role in supporting the 2030 Agenda, with sustainable development goal 16 ‘Peace, justice and strong institutions’ being one of the goals best represented.

More information on how the Council of Europe contributes is now available (see links below). The Council of Europe’s new Project Management Methodology (PMM) is also there to ensure that methods as well as substance of these programmes contribute to achieving the Agenda, including through a Human Rights Approach. The cooperation programmes carried out by the Council of Europe are contractually worth approximately €200 Million.
