Council of Europe Secretary General welcomes Hungarian contribution of €450,000

Council of Europe Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić, has welcomed an exceptional voluntary contribution of €450,000 towards Council of Europe action plans and projects, which support priorities of the Hungarian Presidency. Hungarian Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Mr Péter Szijjártó, announced the contribution on behalf of the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers, to focus on protecting national minorities, children’s rights, youth participation, Roma inclusion and technological and environmental challenges. Their contribution will support the Council of Europe’s work as follows:

  • Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine 2018-2022
  • Council of Europe Strategic Action Plan for Roma and Traveller Inclusion 2020-2025
  • Protecting children from human rights violation
  • Action against Cybercrime
  • European Landscape Convention
  • Bern Convention
  • Support for environment and other new project management methods for cooperation
  • Human Rights Moot Court Competition

The signing of the agreement took place during the official visit of Minister Szijjártó on 21 June.
