On 1-2 June 2022, the Secretariat of the Pompidou Group hosted its 37th Annual Meeting of the Cooperation Group on Drug Control Services at European Airports at the Council of Europe headquarters in Strasbourg.
The main objective of this conference, which comprises law enforcement agencies, private sector and international bodies, is to develop and harmonize tools and systems to improve drug detection in European airports. Meeting once a year, the group primarily acts as a forum for the exchange of practical and operational practices on drug trafficking through commercial aviation.
The focus this year was on air traffic recovery & new trends post Covid-19, seizures at European airports, postal and courier shipments, law enforcement cooperation, airport crime including money laundering and case studies.
The meeting brought together 51 experts from 27 different countries and 4 international organisations.
