New Pompidou Group activity targets children whose parents/primary caregivers use drugs

The Pompidou Group launched a research project on children whose parents/primary caregivers use drugs. The project aims at providing an outcome which will offer a triple perspective : one on children’s rights, one on drug policy and the last one on reducing harm against children by providing integrated services. It will develop guidelines on how to include these perspectives in the development and implementation of policies and programmes that focus on children whose parents/primary caregivers use drugs.

Through the first phase of the research project launched in 2020, the Pompidou Group will also contribute to the future Council of Europe Strategy on the Rights of the Child (2022-2027). After an initial literature review and a questionnaire, 13 member states expressed their willingness to participate in the follow up. The second phase started with focus groups in February 2021.
