15th Annual Meeting of the International Network on the Control of Precursors’ Diversion

On 12-13 April 2022, the Secretariat of the Pompidou Group hosted its 15th meeting on the control of drug precursors’ diversion at the Council of Europe headquarters in Strasbourg. This expert group offers a multidisciplinary platform for police, customs, relevant international bodies, the private sector and the scientific world to continue the close and excellent co-operation in tackling illicit trafficking and use of drug precursor products and pre-precursors. The overall aim of this meeting is to reduce illicit trafficking and to prevent the abuse of (pre-)precursors through information exchange on new trends, risk assessment, best practices, improved control, risk management, profiling, detection and investigative measures. The focus this year was on new trends and MO, Scientific aspects of (pre-)precursors and designer Benzodiazepines, fight against environmental damage, equipment used for drug production, public awareness and case studies. The working group brought together more than 35 experts from 13 different countries and 4 international organisations. For the first time, Trinidad and Tobago participated as observer in meeting.
