The JUFREX project has organised on 5 April 2018 in Podgorica a Public presentation of the Media sector inquiry in Montengro. The inquiry provides a comprehensive analysis of the media sector in Montenegro, including the assessment of impact and consequences of different regulative mechanisms currently in place. Existing and possible solutions were analyzed for the (re)definition of responsibilities, rights, duties and competencies of all media actors, as well as other important stakeholders influencing the media sector in Montenegro. Event was attended and opened by Minister of Culture pf Montenegro, Mr Bogdanovic.
During the event Lejla Dervišagić, Head of Cooperation Unit at the Media and Internet Division at the Council of Europe, in Strasbourg highlighted:" The inquiry was based on Council of Europe standards relating to freedom of expression and freedom of the media, as well as EU regulations. The aim of this inquiry is to offer review of legislative and institutional framework for media and freedom of expression in Montenegro, and to offer conclusions and recommendations that will serve as a guidline for further defining and implementation of national media policies. " The event was attended by represenatatives of media, NGO sector and state insitutions and it was followed by lively discussion.
