Interested in organising a project to promote Global Education among youth? Apply for a grant to support its implementation!

Part of the project iLEGEND II, The North-South Centre of the Council of Europe launches a call for proposals to support the implementation of Follow-up Youth Initiatives to be carried out by participants of the online/residential training courses on Global Education(GE)/Global Development Education(GDE), with the objective to apply the acquired knowledge and tools to further promote and raise awareness about GE/GDE among young people.

With a budget of €35.000 (thirty-five thousand Euros) and a maximum amount of €5.000 (five thousand Euros) per grant[1], the call is open to organise campaigns, conferences, roundtables, trainings, seminars or workshops (other kinds of projects can be proposed).

The call for grant is addressed to representatives of legally constituted non-governmental organisations and/or education practitioners supported by public education entities from the 47 Council of Europe Member States. However, 25% of the places are made available for applicants from other countries.

Furthermore, the applicants must have finalised the four modules of the e-learning course on Global Education[2]. This course offers presentations, interactive information, videos, podcasts, reflective exercises and self-learning assessment tools providing the knowledge and competences needed to best implement Global Education and inspire people to become active agents of global change! If you did not enrol yet in the course, there is still time to do so: each module is estimated to be completed in 60 minutes.

Planned activities of the proposals should start after the 1st of May 2022 and end before the 31st of August 2022.

Deadline for applications is on 15 April 2022 (23:59 UTC - Lisbon Time)

Global education is education that opens people’s eyes and minds to the realities of the globalised world and awakens them to bring about a world of greater justice, equity and Human Rights for all.

The Maastricht Declaration, 2002.

Global education is a pedagogical approach that fosters multiple perspectives and the deconstruction of stereotypes and builds on a learner centred approach to foster critical awareness of global challenges and engagement for sustainable lifestyles.

Global Education competences build on development education, human rights education, education for sustainability, education for peace and conflict prevention and intercultural education, all being the global dimension of education for citizenship.

The North-South Centre’s work for the development of global education started in 1991 with pioneer regional multistakeholder seminars on the issue. They led to the drafting of the Global Education Charter in 1997, which became its reference background document, later consolidated by the recommendations from European global education multistakeholder congresses and regional seminars, as well as a capacity building scheme for formal and non-formal educators.

Ever since, the North-South Centre has been contributing to global education advocacy and pedagogical support through a number of initiatives, at institutional and education levels.
