One year after the Visegrad regional seminar on global development education held in Prague, stakeholders meet again today in Warsaw for a follow-up meeting. 30 participants representing Ministries of Education and of Foreign Affairs, local authorities, educators and civil society organisations from Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia are assessing the progress made in relation to  the recommendations of the regional seminar in Visegrad Countries, held in Prague in June 2017. It is also an opportunity to  discuss current priorities and key challenges and explore opportunities to reinforce Global Development Education advocacy mechanisms at national and regional level.

The participants agreed on the need to reflect on a more operational approach of the Prague recommendations. Current education reform processes in the region are an opportunity to reinforce the communication between practitioners and decision-makers, in line with the Council of Europe Reference Framework on Competences for Democratic Culture and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The Global Education Seminars take place since 2009, at the regional and national levels. These events are co-organised by the North-South Centre, in the frame of the Joint Programme between the European Union and the Council of Europe iLEGEND : they bring together global education stakeholders from new European Union member states and from candidate countries, in order to discuss the local implementation of Global Education.
