Webinar on “Online Court Hearings” was organised on 14 December 2020. It gathered more than 140 participants, including but not limited to the representatives from the Ministry of Justice, (Directorate General of Criminal Affairs, Human Rights Department, Directorate General for the EU and Foreign Relation, Directorate General of Information Technologies), Justice Academy of Turkey and Council of Judges and Prosecutors, Non-Governmental Organizations, judges, prosecutors and lawyers. This webinar contributed to human rights related discussions on conducting online court hearings, giving examples of good practices in some Council of Europe member states while stressing actual shortcoming and challenges. It furthermore addressed practical solutions related to these arrangements and their compatibility with the requirements under the European Convention on Human Rights about fairness of proceedings.

This webinar was organised under the European Union/Council of Europe Joint Project “Strengthening the Criminal Justice System and the Capacity of Justice Professionals on Prevention of the European Convention on Human Rights Violations in Turkey
