Representatives of the Office of the Prosecutor General, State Bureau of Investigation, Ministry of Justice, Training Center for Prosecutors of Ukraine, non-governmental organizations, civil society and international stakeholders who work in the field of combatting ill-treatment gathered today in Kyiv to coordinate on future steps.

The working meeting was organised following adoption on 28 October 2021 of the Governmental Counter-Torture Strategy in the Sphere of Criminal Justice and respective action plan. Participants discussed respective action plan activities and roles of those with whom responsibility of implementation lies. International stakeholders had therefore an opportunity to express which activities they would be ready to support so as to avoid duplication of efforts and ensure synergy between key actors.

The event was organised within the CoE project "Supporting Institutions to Combat Ill-Treatment in Ukraine". The key beneficiary of the latter is the State Bureau of Investigation and therefore readiness to support respective activities under the action plan that are assigned with the institution was voiced during the meeting.
