Back Updated HELP course on Introduction to ECHR and ECtHR is available in Ukrainian

Updated HELP course on Introduction to the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and the European Court on Human Rights (ECtHR) is now available in Ukrainian. While the initial version of this course was developed in 2016, the this is an updated version which was published on the Council of Europe online platform in March 2020.

The course can be interesting for all legal professionals as well as university students and civil society organisations.

The course consists of 3 substantive modules which are the following:

Introductory module: welcome message, navigation instruction, course authors, course target group.

Module 1: Introduction to the European Convention on Human Rights

  • Structure of the ECHR
  • Interpreting the ECHR
  • The ECHR within the national legal order

Module 2: Introduction to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR)

  • Structure of the ECtHR
  • The life of an application before the ECtHR

Module 3: Execution of the Judgements of the ECtHR

  • Introduction to the module
  • Supervision of the implementation of the ECtHR judgements
  • Execution of the ECtHR judgements

The course was developed by the Council of Europe HELP Programme in close cooperation with the Department for the Execution of Judgements of the ECtHR of the Council of Europe. This version of the course was partly produced with the financial support of the European Union and the Council of Europe through the action “Strengthening the effective legal remedies to human rights violations in Serbia”, implemented under the EU/CoE “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey II.”

The Ukrainian translation of the updated course is publicly available on the HELP online platform. To access the course, it is necessary to open a HELP account if it has not been done yet. 

The updated course was translated in the framework of the Council of Europe Project “Human Rights Compliant Criminal Justice System in Ukraine”, which is part of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine 2018-2022.
