The Council of Europe Programme Office in Ankara has launched face-to-face training of trainers under the project “Strengthening the Criminal Justice System and the Capacity of Justice Professionals on Prevention of the European Convention on Human Rights Violations in Turkey.” A 4-day training of trainers on substance and methodology was organised in Sapanca between the dates of March 27-30, 2022 for two separate groups targeting 42 part-time and full time trainers of the Justice Academy of Turkey.

The aim of this activity is to increase the skills of trainers on adult training methodology for selected modules on reasoning of judgments and right to liberty and security. The modules are developed under the project in collaboration with the Justice Academy of Turkey. The training consisted of interactive presentations of modules by Council of Europe experts, followed by a moot court exercise and try out sessions, to enable participants to apply the knowledge acquired.

The training will contribute to the Justice Academy’s efforts to implement an applied curriculum involving interactive methodologies. The full-time and part-time trainers who participated this activity will train approximately 1500 judges and prosecutors in total, including the criminal peace judges based on the updated or newly developed curricula, modules, methodology and materials under the Project.
