Back Launch of the Council of Europe project “Supporting Parliamentary Oversight over Execution of the European Court Judgments in Georgia”

The Council of Europe officially launched a project “Supporting Parliamentary Oversight over Execution of the European Court Judgments in Georgia” on 2 October bringing together the Council of Europe representatives, state authorities, and members of the parliament, international donor organisations, media and civil society. The project aims at assisting the Georgian stakeholders in strengthening domestic mechanisms for more effective implementation of European human rights standards at national level.

Cristian Urse, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Georgia, Sophio Kiladze, Chairperson of Human Rights and Civic Integration Committee of the Parliament, Gocha Lortkipanidze, Deputy of Minister of Justice and Tigran Karapetyan, Head of Unit, Eastern Partnership & Russian Federation, Council of Europe opened the event.

The presentation brought together the Council of Europe representatives, state authorities, and members of the parliament, international donor organisations, media and civil society.

Georgian stakeholders and Council of Europe representatives agreed to cooperate closely within the new project in order to further strengthen implementation of the European Convention of Human Rights standards at national level.

The launch of the event is organised in the framework of the Council of Europe project “Supporting Parliamentary Oversight over Execution of the European Court Judgments in Georgia”.
