Back 45 legal professionals are ready to combat hate crime

15 judges, 15 prosecutors and 15 investigators successfully accomplished 3-month intensive HELP online course were awarded certificates.  

The HELP course on Combatting Hate Crimes helped to advance participants’ skills in effective response to hate crime and hate speech as a rising problem across Europe. The course consisted of the three stages of the investigation, prosecution, and adjudication of the alleged hate crime.

The HELP course on Combatting hate crimes: Effective investigation, prosecution and adjudication was introduced first time in 2019-2020 in Georgia contributing to the capacity building of 45 legal professionals. 

At the handover ceremony, successful participants were awarded certificates by Vahag Muradyan, Deputy Head of the Council of Europe Office in Georgia, Aleksandre Darakhvelidze, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Natia Merebashvili, Deputy General Prosecutor, Ivane Bolkvadze, Director of the High School of Justice.

The Council of Europe HELP course on Combatting hate crimes: Effective investigation, prosecution and adjudication  was developed under the Council of Europe Project “Fighting Discrimination, Hate Crime and Hate Speech in Georgia”.
