From 03.-05.12.2021 a moot court before the European Court of Human Rights was organised for students from the Faculty of Law, University of Sarajevo and the Faculty of Law in Niš. The hypothetical case concerned the protection of the human rights of women primarily in the case of victims of domestic violence. It focused on the protection of personal data of the victims and their online publications. This moot court is one of the events marking 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence against women as well as 10 years of the Istanbul Convention. It is supported in the framework of the Council of Europe activities on European human rights education for law students, strengthening co-operation between two faculties and further networking between students and academic staff. The students tested the strength of their arguments before a panel of judges: Jelena Cvijetić, Representative of the Council of Ministers of BiH before the European Court of Human Rights, Franjo Dragičević, Legal Adviser at the Registry of the Constitutional Court of BiH, Ivan Ilić, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law in Niš, Marko Nedeljković, Faculty of Law in Nis, and Harun Išerić, teaching assistant at the Faculty of Law in Sarajevo.

The moot court is part of the preparations of the team of the Faculty of Law in Sarajevo, which after winning the 15th Regional Moot Court Competition, will participate at the 8th Trans-European Final in Human Rights. The finals organised by the Civil Rights Defender will be held at the European Court of Human Rights on Human Rights Day – 10 December 2021.
