The Council of Europe, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Russian Federation, the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation in co-operation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation with the financial support of European Union are implementing the project «Co-operation on the implementation of the Russian Federation National Action Strategy for Women (2017-2022)».

 

The project is aimed at the development of skills and knowledge in two areas of the Russian Federation National Action Strategy for Women:
1) preventing social disadvantage and violence against women 2) increasing women's participation in public and political life.

 

The official launch of the project was held in Moscow on January 29, 2019.

 

The main objective of the project is to contribute to the increase of knowledge and practical skills of the representatives of authorized government bodies and institutions in order to improve the status of women and effectively combat violence against women. The project provides assistance in the implementation of the aforementioned areas of the Strategy, as well as international commitments made by the Russian Federation, envisaged by the Council of Europe and other international instruments. The project, in particular, is based on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and the United Nations’ document “Transforming our World: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”.

 

Experts’ research in two main areas, seminars, conferences, training for the media, study visit to one of the Council of Europe members, translation and distribution of the prepared materials are planned within the framework of the project.

 

Project duration: November 2018 - May 2020.
