On 21 October, by invitation of the State Duma Committee on Family, Women and Children, Head of the CoE Office in Moscow Petr Sich attended parliamentary hearings dedicated to the discussion of legislation aimed at preventing domestic violence, as well as to different approaches to the elaboration of the draft Federal Law “On framework for prevention of domestic violence in the Russian Federation”.
The discussion of the draft law initiative was attended by First Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Protection Alexey Vovchenko, Chairperson of the State Duma Committee on Issues of Family, Women and Children Tatiana Pletneva, Chairperson of the Committee for Control and Regulations Olga Sevastianova , Deputy Chair of the State Duma Committee on Issues of Family, Women and Children and one of the co-authors of the draft Law Oksana Pushkina as well as other State Duma Deputies. Public and human rights organizations were also represented at the hearings.
