Council of Europe - Directorate General Human Rights and Rule of Law has launched the #DeathIsNotJustice campaign in order to celebrate the European and World Day Against the Death Penalty, held on October 10

Through the European Convention on Human Rights, the Council of Europe has created a death penalty-free zone covering 47 countries and over 820 million people. No executions have taken place in any Council of Europe member state for over 20 years. "It is important to us because death is not justice", Thorbjørn Jagland, Secretary General of the Council of Europe (2009-2019)
