MONEYVAL holds its 63rd Plenary meeting

The Committee of Experts on the Evaluation of Anti-Money Laundering Measures and the Financing of Terrorism (MONEYVAL) held its 63rd Plenary meeting in Strasbourg from 18 to 20 May 2022. This Plenary meeting was carried out in hybrid format, with most delegations and observers present physically in Strasbourg.

The Director of Information Society and Action against Crime of the Council of Europe Mr Jan Kleijssen opened the meeting by underlining the growing importance of the MONEYVAL Committee to ensure financial integrity and transparency in the region. The Co-Chair of the Global Network Coordination Group of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Mr Giles Thomson addressed the Plenary meeting and outlined the Strategic Vision for the Global Network, which was subsequently endorsed by MONEYVAL.

The Plenary discussed and approved the mutual evaluation reports of Bulgaria and Liechtenstein, and the follow-up reports of Albania, Hungary, Moldova and Slovenia. Due to a number of deficiencies in its AML/CFT legislation, Slovenia was placed in MONEYVAL’s Compliance Enhancing Procedures.

All adopted reports will be published in the coming weeks, in accordance with MONEYVAL’s publication policy.
