Prof. Elisabeth SÁNDOR-SZALAY studied law. She teaches at the University of Pécs and has been a visiting professor at the University of Babeș-Bolyai in Cluj-Napoca since 2004. Over the years she has taught at various universities in Europe (Budapest, Bayreuth, Graz, Timișoara). She was the Dean of the Law Faculty of the University of Pécs, where she held the Chair of International and European Law for many years. In addition, she was director of the CERE (Centre for European Research and Education). She has been a member of the Advisory Committee of the Framework Convention on National Minorities since 2016. From 2013 to 2019 she fulfilled her first mandate as ombudsperson responsible for the rights of national minorities in Hungary, in 2019 she was re-elected for a further six years.
