Journalist Erol Zavar, Suffering from a Cancer, is Serving Life Sentence in Turkey
Erol Zavar is the editor-in-chief of Odak magazine. He has been in prison since January 2001 and has been sentenced to life-time imprisonment. He was convicted on the charge of being a member of an illegal organisation called Resistance Movement. For his defence, Zavar stated that the reporting for Odak magazine had been presented as criminal evidence. He also said that he was tortured during detention while his sister was also attacked and had her foot broken.
