IMC TV reporter Gökhan Biçici was arrested on 16 June 2013 while covering clashes between police and demonstrators in Istanbul during the “Gezi Park protests”. As Biçici refused to delete photos he had taken, police grabbed his gas mask and iPad and beat him up from all sides even when he fell on the ground. Then they cuffed him with plastic cable ties and dragged him along the ground.

In June 2016, in the absence of prosecution against police officers who arrested him and beat him and after exhaustion of all legal options, Gökhan Biçici referred his case to the constitutional court.
