Seyithan Akyüz was working as Çukurova-based correspondent for the Kurdish daily Azadiya Welat, he was mainly doing Kurdish-Turkish translation works and had responsibilities in the printing house. He was arrested twice before due to calling out slogans during Newroz (New Year celebrations) with the allegation that he had participated in the HEC Protest. He was sentenced to 1 year and 5,5 years in different cases. This is his third imprisonment for being a member of the illegal organization. His phone conversation has been recorded and his participation to the 27 November events, considered as the founding date of a terrorist organization, was used as evidence to charge him. In October 2012, he was sentenced to 22 years and 6 months of imprisonment for being a member of this illegal organisation.
