Dicle News Agency (DIHA) reporters Selami Aslan and Mehmet Sıddık Damar and their colleagues Esra Aydın and Ceylan Eraslan from Women’s News Agency (JINHA) were detained on 26 July 2016, the pro-Kurdish news agencies reported. They were stopped by police for an ID check while they covered the incidents in Mardin's Nusaybin district after the lifting of the curfew. The four journalists were released after the ID check but were stopped by the same policemen a while later, who took them into custody.

30 Sep 2016: On 27 July 2016, after being held for two and half hours at the Nusaybin Security Directorate, the four journalists were released. On 30 September 2016, the partner organisations of the Platform declared this case to be "resolved”, concluding that it was no longer an active threat to media freedom.
