JINHA Reporter Rojda Oğuz Arrested in Van
On 5 January 2016, Rojda Oğuz, student reporter for JINHA news agency, was arrested by the Turkish authorities on charges of being a member of an illegal organisation. According to media reports, a special anti-terror operation conducted by the prosecutor's office in Van targeted several students accused of being leading members of "YDG-H" and "YÖDER" affiliated as youth organisations to the outlawed PKK organisation. During her interrogation by the authorities, Rojda Oğuz was accused of sharing articles via the Facebook social network.
: On 28 March 2016, JINHA Correspondent Rojda Oğuz is being released today from the Van M-type Closed Prison. On 31 March 2016, the partner organisations of the Platform declared this case to be "resolved”, concluding that it was no longer an active threat to media freedom.
