On 24 May 2021, the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milorad Dodik, threatened journalist Tanja Topic and her family. He called her “an agent of the German BND” and a “Quisling” in a statement to the SRNA news agency from Republika Srpska. This is not the first time Dodik is targeting journalists who are critical of him and his Party of the Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) as “traitors”, “mercenaries” or “hostile media”.

The BH Journalists’ Association (BHN) called these latest statements “misogynistic political and slanderous pressure” that endangers the safety of “one of the most prominent journalists and analysts in Bosnia and Herzegovina” as well as her family. BHN has initiated legal proceedings against Dodik and sent complaints to the Agency for Gender Equality of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Gender Centre of the Government of Republika Srpska.
