Register for the webinar “Electronic evidence of war crimes” to be held on 25th November

The webinar “Electronic evidence of war crimeswill be held on 25 November 2022 at 10:30-12:30   CET with the participation of British journalist Mr Eliot Higgins, founder of Bellingcat, an independent international group of researchers, investigators and citizen journalists using open source and social media investigation technique to document the war crimes in Ukraine.

The webinar is organised by the Group of Friends on the Safety of Journalists and Media Freedom with the support of the Council of Europe.

The speakers will discuss the challenges and possible solutions for storage and usage of the evidence of war crimes collected by media for future criminal proceedings.

The ongoing crimes within the Russian aggression against Ukraine are documented by media and social media as it has never been possible before.  The participants will discuss the differences between covering war crimes as a journalist and presenting that information to a legal investigation. The speakers will present the challenges of investigative journalists and other media actors in collecting evidence on war crimes.
