The Council of Europe addresses the strategic communication capacities of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine

The Council of Europe experts commenced their work on support and advice to the Office of Prosecutor General of Ukraine in the development and implementation of solid information and communication strategy in times of war.

Its focus will include information, content, and guidelines over the collection of evidence of gross human rights violations, aiming at a custom-made reporting to domestic and international audiences.

The kick-off meeting which introduced engaged experts to the Office of the Prosecutor General representatives took place on 14 September 2022.

“Aggression of Russia against Ukraine has become possible and, among other, is a consequence of information weapon – propaganda. The truth is undoubtedly on the side of the Ukrainian people. We cannot stay aside and have an obligation to level and counter this way of massive human minds damaging around the world,” said Oleksiy Boniuk, Head of Criminal Law Policies and Investments Protection Department of the Office of Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

The Council of Europe is supporting the Ukrainian authorities in line with the revised and adjusted Action Plan for Ukraine 2018-2022. Within this framework of co-operation, the Council of Europe intends to directly address consequences of the armed aggression in Ukraine, by facilitating specific actions of key public service institutions in Ukraine through its Immediate Action Package “Support to Safety of Journalists, Media, and of Access to Information”.
