Open Call for Photos! Together in the Distance: Building New Solidarities in a Changing World
Together we celebrate the amazing courage and commitment of those amongst us who made a contribution for the greater good! The EU Delegation in Strasbourg and its partners are launching an open call for photos and testimonials to illustrate the stories of men and women who faced the crisis and set an example of solidarity in such difficult times. Join forces with us and send us your proposal by the 31st of May 2021! The selected photos will be featured in a virtual exhibition and in a dedicated photobook and postcards collection.

It’s been a year since the first COVID-19 lockdowns were imposed all across Europe and many other parts of the world. And while this period has been marked by unparalleled suffering, uncertainty and loss, it has also revealed new expressions of kindness, courage and generosity.

Are you among the thousands out there with a story to share about an act of solidarity you carried out in these difficult times? If so, send us your picture and testimonial and we will spread the word! Or are you just one of the many people across the world who want to say thank you to those who set an example of courage and solidarity during the last 12 months? Then let’s say thank you together by showing the world who these outstanding people are.

The EU Delegation to the Council of Europe together with the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities and the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe are launching a public campaign to celebrate the resilience of societies across Europe and beyond and pay tribute to those who demonstrated solidarity with their own kind in the face of the crisis.

A jury will select 25 to 30 photos based on criteria such as artistic quality, the power of the story behind the image and equitable geographic representation. The selected photos and stories will be featured in a virtual webpage exhibition in the autumn. A physical showcasing could also be organised depending on the development of the sanitary situation. This work will also be included in a dedicated photobook and a collection of postcards with the stories at the back, which we will make available in both printed and digital form and feature extensively in our social media platforms. The selected participants will be mailed a hard copy of the photobook featuring their work.
