Council of Europe supports the ongoing process of elaboration of a comprehensive development strategy for the Public Prosecution System in Ukraine launched by the Office of the Prosecutor General in August 2020. In order to ensure the strategy aligns with the Council of Europe standards and best practices in the area of public prosecution and following the request from the Office of the Prosecutor General, the Council of Europe provided expert commentaries to the first draft of the Strategy. The consultants positively assessed the endeavour of the Office of the Prosecutor General to elaborate such a document and pointed on areas in the draft strategy that in their view require further improvement.

The expert commentaries were provided within the framework of the Council of Europe Project “Human rights compliant criminal justice system in Ukraine”, which is part of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine 2018-2021.
