IDP needs assessment conducted in Izum amalgamated community

On February 28, 2020, the results of IDP needs assessment conducted by the experts of Kharkiv Institute for Social Research presented in Izyum amalgamated community.

The event was attended by the city high management, heads of key departments as well as civil society organizations.

Recommendations of the assessment are the following:

• Regularly review IDP needs to obtain up-to-date information and understand the scalee of the problems they face.

• Increase efforts to address the needs of displaced persons in housing.

• Informing IDPs on the opportunities and benefits of receiving social and psychological services.

• Strengthening the medical services in the community to respond to the needs of IDPs and local population.

• Development of referral mechanisms for IDPs seeking for free legal aid.

• Creating a communication strategy on participation of IDPs in the community affairs.

According to the mayor, Valery Marchenko, the results of the assessment allow to understand the level of fulfilment of the various needs of IDPs. Moreover, it serves as a reason to address the state and international organizations with the request of support for IDP-focused programmes.
