Youth, journalists and representatives of local authorities from Donetsk and Luhansk regions participated in the World Forum for Democracy 2017 in France

On 8-10 November 2017 the World Forum for Democracy brought together in the Council of Europe head-quarters nearly 2000 participants from more than 80 countries to discuss the issues of multilateral responses to populism, a growing disconnect between citizens and political elites and dramatic changes in the media ecosystem.

Among them Ukrainians - journalists-winners of the National Media Contest on Local Self-Government, youth teams-winners in nomination “We are – local self-government!” of the International Child TV-Festival “DYTYATKO”, chairmanship of local self-government and local state authorities from Donetsk and Luhansk regions which visited Strasbourg within the study-visit organised by the Council of Europe Programme “Decentralisation and Territorial Consolidation in Ukraine”.

More information about the visit you could find in Ukrainian or here http://oblrada.kharkov.ua/en/press-center/news/18385-strasburg-chekae-na-novikh-peremozhtsiv-dityatka

The World Forum for Democracy is a unique platform for political decision-makers and activists to debate solutions to key challenges for democracies worldwide. By identifying and analysing experimental initiatives and practices, the Forum highlights and encourages democracy innovations at the grassroots and their transfer on a systemic level in order to strengthen the foundations of democratic societies. The Forum thus contributes to the evolution of democracy towards more participatory and inclusive structures and institutions.
