Round Table “Modelling of capable raion level: gained experience and prospects”

During November 2018 – February 2019 Ukrainian Association of Raion and Oblast Councils (UAROR) implemented a Project “Modelling of administrative and territorial division in Donetsk, Kharkiv, Luhansk and Ternopil regions” in co-operation with the MinRegion and with support of the Council of Europe Programme “Decentralisation and local government reform in Ukraine”. The Association conducted a number of regional consultations with more than 300 participants, including local authorities’ leaders of all levels as well as state authorities. As a result, the draft laws on changes and establishing the boundaries of the raions of 4 regions were prepared by the UAROR experts.

On 22 March 2019 the Round Table “Modelling of capable rayon level: gained experience and prospects” to present the Project results took place in Kyiv.

During the event the participants concluded that the modeling of a capable subregional level should be carried out in all the regions of Ukraine and the results of the work already conducted by UAROR should be taken into account when elaborating proposals on territorial organisation of power.
