Finland makes €2 million voluntary contribution to support Ukraine

The Government of Finland has made a new voluntary contribution of €2 000 000 to support the implementation of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine 2018-2022 and its successor Action Plan, bringing their total support to the Action Plan to €3.57 million.

Finland has also contributed €750 000 to reduce the European Court of Human Rights backlog of well-founded cases, to end violence against women, to support the Council of Europe Strategic Action Plan for Roma and Traveller Inclusion 2020-2025, to promote human rights and equality for LGBTI persons and to support civil society.

Finland has also pledged €200 000 to the Human Rights Trust Fund*.

The agreements were signed on 16 May 2022 by Ambassador Nina Nordström, Permanent Representative of Finland to the Council of Europe, and Mr Bjørn Berge, Deputy Secretary General.

*The HRTF brings together seven contributors: Finland, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
