The President of GREVIO, professor Feride Acar, attended the Council of Europe World Forum for Democracy 2018, Gender Equality : Whose Battle? (Strasbourg, 19-21 November 2018).
In her intervention during plenary session 2 - Time to stop sexism, discrimination and violence against women, the President highlighted the importance of the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combatting violence against women and domestic violence (Istanbul Convention) as “both a diagnostic tool that points to the root cause of violence against women as gender inequality and a detailed recipe of measures to be taken by states to prevent violence against women and domestic violence in societies, to protect its victims and survivors, and to prosecute and punish its perpetrators”.
