GREVIO Secretariat presents Istanbul Convention as a tool to improve access to justice for women victims of violence

The regional conference on Access to Justice for Women Victims of Violence organised under the Partnership for Good Governance (PGG) project of the Council of Europe opened with a discussion on the standards set by the Istanbul Convention in ending impunity and ensuring criminal justice for women victims of violence. Many of the Convention's provisions in the area of preventing violence, protecting its victims and prosecuting the perpetrators are aimed at delivering better justice. Its standards lie at the heart of the conference which aims to review progress made in the field of women’s access to justice and define follow-up for the Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries.
