On 4 June 2018, the Council of Europe will hold an information event in Botkyrka (Sweden), in view of the possible setting up of a Swedish network of Intercultural cities (ICC). The event is being organised in the close co-operation with Unesco Lucs and targets elected officials and senior officers from a variety of Swedish Municipalities. It will raise awareness on the intercultural integration approach, including by sharing the positive experience of other ICC national networks.

The possible setting-up of an ICC national network in Sweden would not only bring Swedish cities into a community of over 126 municipalities committed to the positive management of diversity and migration, but also enable the two Swedish cities that are already member of the ICC programme, Västerås and Botkyrka, to have a stronger voice in advocating Intercultural Cities’ common values: to prevent prejudice and discrimination, foster intercultural encounters and inclusion, make cities more welcoming for migrants and refugees and sharing good practices and collective standards.
