16th Coordination meeting of the Spanish Network of Intercultural Cities

On 10-11 April the Spanish Network of Intercultural cities (RECI) held its 16th coordination meeting in Madrid, at Caixa Forum premises.

During the coordination meeting, the Work Plan for 2019 was discussed and agreed upon, and participating cities set new priorities for the further strategic development of the network, including the organization of a Policy Lab to initiate a multi-level dialogue on inclusive integration.

Participating cities also evoked the forthcoming local elections that will take place end of May in Spain, expressing the wish to continue working to promote the principles of interculturalism: equality and equity, recognition of diversity and positive interaction to strong our communities.

Besides, since the Italian Network of Intercultural Cities was also having its Coordination Meeting at the same time, both networks met virtually to exchange information on their respective plans and objectives.

The RECI already includes twenty municipalities and is considering additional applications. One of the latest applications came from the city of Palma, who attended the meeting as a guest city.
