"The Third Dimension - Exhibition and Learning Space” seeks to offer a unique and meaningful experience about the possibility of multiple perspectives and the deconstruction of hegemonic narratives. It strives to cross personal and collective boundaries in a way that exposes the potential of shared life both locally and around the globe.
“The Third Dimension” is not a regular exhibition space since here the audience will be invited to touch, react, and take an active part in the space.
Sponsored by Municipality of Haifa, The Israeli Lotery, Forum ZDF, the American Embassy in Israel, “The Third Dimension” will be inaugurated on 6th December 2018 and will aim to:
- expand participants’ perspectives on shared living and provide them with tools to live and work in a multicultural society through experiential encounter,
- work toward pluralistic thought and behaviour patterns, respect for the other, and respect for oneself
- create an inspiring space that aims to discuss, promote and build an egalitarian and pluralistic society
An example of a work specifically developed for the exhibition is “Cinderalls” by Artist Emi Sfard and Immersive Media Specialist Lior Stherm. The project is an interactive video installation that combines various versions of the folktale ‘Cinderella’ based on different places of origin such as Morocco, Russia, Germany, and Palestine. Stherm and Sfard created a hybrid immersive world fill with objects, scenes and characters from the different versions and invite the visitors to take an active part by not only experiencing the famous story being told an exceptional visual experience but through the use of interactive tools the viewer him/herself will be able to take part in storytelling in a nonlinear way and in different languages and cultural traditions, thus inviting the audience to experience a known story being told differently.
