About the organisation

In 2010, Strategy and Investor Relations Department was established within the structure of Municipal Government of the City of Lublin. It is similar to a typical investment agency and its team use corporate communication forms and follow corporate business standards. Apart from planning economic development strategy for the city and serving investors, they are also responsible for managing economic information system, fostering business relations, and promoting investment offers in Lublin.  In the business relations field the city, as a 'third party', focuses predominantly on establishing, developing, and strengthening relations. These activities are supported by cluster initiatives, activation projects, bespoke networking programmes for specific industries, and participation of representatives of higher education institutions, start-ups, creative industries, and small-scale tradesmen.

About aims and partners

Startup Weekend Lublin organized in collaboration with different partners is one of the several initiatives aimed at diversifying start-up foundation processes. It was a three-day continuous event (duration of 54 hours) aim of which was to provide participants with opportunities to create teams and found start-ups, including prototypes of services, products or tools.  The main idea behind the undertaking was collaboration of professionals specializing in a variety of fields: software development, marketing, and graphic design.

As Lviv University of Technology was one of the partners to the event, Startup Weekend Lublin was truly unique - the teams consisted of individuals of different nationalities.

The event provided Ukrainian participants with great opportunities not only to acquire know-how in founding start-ups based on modern infrastructure but also learn a lot from several experienced mentors. Polish attendees, however, had a chance to gain experience and improve their skills in building multinational teams.
