At a public ceremony on 13 June Rochester Mayor Ardell F. Brede signed the agreement for Rochester, Minnesta to become the first Intercultural city in the USA.
Work on an intercultural strategy will be carried out in the context of the multi-billion dollar Destination Medical Center project and the associated Journey for Growth initiative.
Elected officials, the Director of the Chamber of Commerse, the community Head of local Police, administrative officers, representatives of the city’s largest employer Mayo Clinic, as well as civil society leaders took part in the event.
