Canton of Neuchâtel: valuing diversity among the key objectives of the next legislative programme

"For centuries, the Canton of Neuchâtel has been a land open to the world and to new ideas. Its identity is constantly evolving, nourishing itself of the interactions generated by the encounters of people from different cultures and origins. We want to develop a urban planning that contributes to fostering diversity and mixing, promoting plural identities and the encounter between all members of society, in order to build a harmonious community. A community in which each and every one fits and contributes to shaping the future.”

It is with these words that the State Council of Neuchâtel (executive body) decided to include valuing diversity as one of the 16 challenges and ambitions of the legislature (2018-2021). The canton of Neuchâtel continues to promote a public speech of openness in line with the importance attached not only to the actions carried out on a daily basis, but also to the context and to the choice of words. Besides, as part of the revision of the implementing regulation of the law on cohesion and multicultural integration, the definition of intercultural integration is further entrenched in the text.
