Webinar on the Developments in Polish Education Law and Emergency Measures for Ukrainian Students in Polish Schools

The Conference of INGOs invites you to an online conversation (in English) with education professor, a teacher, and anti-discrimination NGO representative on Developments in Polish Education Law and Emergency Measures for Ukrainian Students in Polish Schools at 17:00 (CET) on 28 March 2022.

The webinar will provide an update on the issue of the so-called Lex Czarnek which was vetoed by the Polish President. However, the education law is being further pursued by the Polish Education Ministry to further centralize control over schools and limit access of NGOs to Polish schools among the growing refugee crisis and a growing number of Ukrainian students at Polish schools. There is a concern that the governance of schools and decision-making would shift from local authorities to the state level; and that restrictions of the activities of the NGOs and civil society will impact teachers’ access to trainings and anti-discrimination education, as well as psychological assistance and interventions in the context the decline of mental health of Ukrainian students and parents and the unprecedented presence of "the other" in a homogenious society.

Moderators: Gerhard Ermischer (President of the Conference of INGOs of the Council of Europe), Beata Zwierzyńska (Member of the Standing Committee of the Conference of INGOs)

Discussants: Professor of education Grzegorz Mazurkiewicz (Jagiellonian University), Grażyna Zagórny (Protest with Exclamation Mark), Małgorzata Jonczy-Adamska (Society for Anti-discrimination Education)

You are cordially invited to join us at this informative meeting and exchange with the Polish civil society.
