GRECO issues recommendations to the Conference of INGOs to prevent corruption

In the context of the debate that began at the 2017 winter session on a mechanism for protection against corruption in the Parliamentary Assembly and more broadly within the Council of Europe, the President of the Conference of the INGO requested GRECO's expertise in this area. GRECO (Group of States against Corruption) carried out an evaluative study, based on its expertise and the responses to the questionnaire sent to INGOs with participatory status. The report, adopted by GRECO on 18 October 2017, presents the results of the study and the recommendations that will be used by the Conference of INGOs to strengthen its governance instruments aimed at preventing risks of corruption and addressing conflicts of interest.

An ad hoc group of the Conference of INGOs composed of representatives its Standing Committee, Verification and Dispute Committee, Expert Council on NGO Law and a member of the Conference of INGOs will propose a follow-up to this report.  The proposals put forward by this group will be presented and discussed at the January 2018 session of the Conference of INGOs.
